The University's commitment to SydneyTalent

SydneyTalent is new initiative of the University of Sydney, one that closely reflects its commitment to equipping pre-graduates and graduates for successful employment and immediate social contribution.

The SydneyTalent concept was born of a 2005 shared services project undertaken by Procurement in which students were recruited as part of an integrated project team. The initiative became known as Sydney Student Development (SSD) and quickly gathered momentum. SydneyTalent was incorporated in January 2008 and tasked with evolving the SSD model towards a fully realised student employment experience one that could incorporate innovative learning and development programs. SydneyTalent operated as a pilot program until November 2008, placing 225 student employees within roles across the University. After receiving Senate approval in November, SydneyTalent moved to full implementation.

SydneyTalent represents the latest iteration of the University's commitment to provide the highest quality student experience, an experience that encompasses the broadest possible range of choices and opportunities. As an ongoing investment in the success of pre-graduates and graduates, SydneyTalent's work helps students to engage more fully with the economic and social fabric of our national and international communities. By delivering the leaders of tomorrow an immediate competitive edge in their chosen fields of endeavour, SydneyTalent is helping to build the plural society central to the University's vision.
