Case study: SydneyTalent and ICT

The relationship between ICT and Sydney Talent was established in October 2007 and has since rapidly expanded to include over 25 student employees who now support many of the University's core teaching, research and professional services units.

WorkReady Orientation™

The first step to becoming a SydneyTalent employee involves being introduced to the SydneyTalent student experience. The SydneyTalent online orientation guide welcomes new SydneyTalent employees and provides an overview of our background and vision. It also provides SydneyTalent employees with a set of guidelines detailing appropriate workplace behaviour.

Following this, SydneyTalent employees are required to complete a series of four online compliance modules:

  • Occupational Health & Safety in the Workplace
  • Privacy
  • Sexual Harassment
  • Workplace Bullying

These modules provide the basic knowledge and understanding of the legal obligations of a SydneyTalent employee. They also serve to protect SydneyTalent employees and employers from liability as their employment commences. These modules span approximately four hours, and are completed in the SydneyTalent employees' own time.
